Feel free to leave a comment if you have questions or want me to test something. Overall, these are really solid products. There are hotkey shortcuts to reset the console and to re-map buttons, if that's what you want. The inputs appear to come out at the same time on both controllers when you press the buttons at the same time. I started the game with one wired NES controller and one wireless one. I booted up Double Dragon II multiplayer to test this. If there is any input lag, I didn't notice it. I had trouble doing this and found out that pressing START+A works better.īasically, it's awesome. The included instructions tell you to press START+B to connect to the receivers. The controllers will not work on the receivers without updating.

I tested the controllers on Switch and PC and connected without a problem.Īs for the Retro Receivers, you absolutely need to update the firmware to v1.11.

The controllers use bluetooth to connect to Switch, PC, and the 8bitdo retro receivers for the NES/SNES Classic. The LED will shut off when the controllers are done charging.

Took about 30-45 minutes to get it to full charge. I used the included chargers to get the battery full. Just try not to move them too much while assembling, and they'll feel fine when you close it up. The 8bitdo board also has tabs to hold them up, but the shoulder buttons will remain loose until you close the controller up again. The shoulder button were held up by tabs connected to the original board, so these will off off when you remove the board. You can peel them off the board and place them back where they should be. For me, these came off when I removed the controller board. When you open up the SNES controller, you'll see that there are some rubber pads underneath the face buttons start/select. It looks to be an ordinary glasses screwdriver, so it shouldn't be hard to get your hands on one. Luckily, it just uses the same screwdriver as the NES Classic. Unfortunately, 8bitdo included the wrong-sized screwdriver for taking the controller apart. The SNES Classic controller was a bit trickier. That said, I had no issues closing the controller back up. Feels like you can accidentally break it off if you're not careful. The only downside is that the ribbon that connects the board to the new charging port is a bit awkwardly placed. The controller's board comes right off and you simply insert the new board in its place. You just use the included screwdriver to remove the screws on the back and take the controller apart.

The NES Classic controller was incredibly easy to mod with 8bitdo's kit. I received my 8bitdo mod kits for both the NES Classic controller and the SNES Classic controller and I thought I would share my thoughts for anyone considering buying these.
